![]() Based on this novel, I wouldn't download any more of Plaidy-not my taste in historical fiction-and too bad, since her subjects are interesting. I have no idea how a 16th century Spanish accent would sound (the English speak with modern accent as is usual in light historical fcition) but some of the Spanish accents sound to me more like Count Drrrac-U-lla than Spaniards of any period. Katharine the Virgin Widow The young Spanish widow, Katharine of Aragon. I had to finish the listen on my ipod's fast speed, something I rarely do. With no legitimate heir yet born, Katherine once again begins to fear for her future. The most serious drawback: The dialogue is often tedious and repetitive. Characters often speak and think in anachronistic fashion. ![]() It contains even fewer setting details to heighten interest in that. A standard sized paperback Good used condition paperback with light edge wear and light. ![]() The plot moves slowly, which is fine to me in a historical novel redeemed by rich setting details and well, history, but this contains only a small bit of history outside of the court intrigue related to Katherine. For sale a copy of Katherine, the Virgin Widow by Jean Plaidy. ![]() I had hoped to find a new author for easy listening, but this was not what I enjoy, even in light historical fiction. ![]()
